Spring is a time for new beginnings.. and in that spirit, let’s talk about key information to help you prepare for retirement. Determining the right time to retire involves managing several factors, such as healthcare, financial stability, and personal fulfillment. Which requires a thoughtful and collaborative approach. One that includes a knowledgeable Medicare insurance broker, Long Term Care insurance agent and financial planner on your team to help navigate the elements of retirement. There are so many details and boxes to check that can impact you, so let’s break down the focus to three (3) key areas: Healthcare; Social Security and Financial stability. During our first "Let’s Talk" conversation, we will look at your specific healthcare needs, review your Medicare questions and share tips about Medicare. Three important things to know about Medicare: 1) You have to apply to receive your benefits - unless you take your social security before age 65; 2) It does not cover several important benefits and requires additional coverage plans; and 3) Medicare isn’t FREE, there are monthly premiums for Part B, D and sometimes Part A depending on your status. When finalizing your retirement timeline, look at the impact of Medicare costs, the availability of employer-sponsored benefits, and what retiring during a specific time of the year could mean for your retirement i.e.: employer healthcare coverage, annual bonuses/pensions? Review your financial plan and adjust any changing circumstances to align with your retirement date. You may consider phased retirement or part-time work in the initial years to help you ease into it so that all aspects are ready before fully committing. Let’s Talk about the enrollment process, timing to activate your Medicare Parts A&B, PLUS additional coverage options, plan choices and costs. Schedule a 30 minute appointment to see how to navigate your specific Medicare needs.
